Terms of use
These terms of use (the “Terms”) set out the conditions for using “Squads”, a football (soccer) formation tool (the “Service”). By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
1. What we provide and pricing
Use of the Service and embedding it in other sites with an iframe (/embed) are provided free of charge. The source code is not public, and all rights relating to the Service belong to the operator. The operator may accept paid support for the development and running of the Service (“development support”). Development support is optional; all features of the Service are available without it, and paying does not change the features or terms of use of the Service. In addition to the Stripe checkout page, development support is also accepted through OFUSE, a fan letter service run by Sozi, Inc. Sales conditions such as prices, payment methods and cancellations are set out in the disclosure under the Specified Commercial Transactions Act. Development support through OFUSE is also subject to the OFUSE terms of use (in Japanese). Messages and requests sent in OFUSE fan letters are used as input for improving the Service, but we do not promise to reply to or act on them. Development support is not support for, or an indication of any partnership with, the real clubs, national teams, players or organizations that appear in the samples.
The Service can also be used from AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude through the MCP server (/mcp), free of charge and without sign-up. These Terms also apply in that case, and boards and share URLs that an AI assistant creates at your request are treated as created by you. Calls made to create boards at a user's request are not collection for the purpose of creating machine learning or AI training data under "3. Prohibited conduct". Massive automated calls that cause excessive load fall under "acts that interfere with the operation of the Service" in the prohibited conduct.
2. Embedding
- The Service's embed page may be embedded in any site with an iframe.
- Do not hide, obscure or modify the “Squads” link shown in the embed page.
- Follow the specification set by the operator when embedding. The specification may change without notice.
3. Prohibited conduct
- Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
- Embedding in sites containing adult, violent, fraudulent, discriminatory or other inappropriate content
- Acts that interfere with the operation of the Service (including automated access that causes excessive load)
- Entering, sharing or publishing data that infringes the rights of others (portrait, reputation, copyright, trademarks, publicity rights, etc.)
- Removing, hiding, cropping, overwriting or otherwise altering the Squads logo, QR code or credit that appears in images, videos, share URLs and embeds produced by the Service (see "4. Exported images, videos, share URLs and embeds")
- Copying or imitating the Service's screens, design, text, logo or program to create or publish a site or app that is the same as or similar to the Service, and scraping, analyzing or reverse engineering the Service for that purpose
- Collecting or using the content of the Service (such as samples, text, screens and the logo) to create training data for machine learning or AI without the operator's permission
- Copying, redistributing or modifying the Service's source code or logo without permission
If the operator determines that conduct falls under the prohibited conduct, the operator may restrict (block) the relevant embedding or use without prior notice.
4. Exported images, videos, share URLs and embeds
Responsibility for what you create
- The Service lets you freely enter team names, player names, shirt numbers, positions and so on to create formations. The operator does not review or approve what you enter in advance.
- You are responsible for checking and obtaining any rights or permissions needed (for example, for club or organization names and logos, or players' names and likenesses) for what you enter, and for the images and videos you export, the share URLs you create and the embeds you set up.
- If you publish or distribute exported images, videos or share URLs on social media, blogs or elsewhere, you are likewise responsible for doing so. Please take particular care if you use them commercially.
- If a dispute or claim arises with a third party over content you created or shared, you will resolve it at your own responsibility and expense, and the operator is not liable in any way. If the operator suffers loss, the operator may seek compensation.
- The operator may restrict share URLs, embeds and the like that it considers likely to infringe rights, without prior notice.
Logo, QR code and credit
- Images exported as PNG include the Squads logo and a QR code (a link to the Service). Exported videos include a Squads logo and QR code screen at the start and the end. A share URL opens a Squads page, and an embed shows a link to Squads.
- These marks are part of the conditions of use of the Service. Do not publish or distribute images or videos that you have altered by removing, hiding, cropping out or replacing the logo, QR code or brand screens. Do not provide share URLs or embeds in a way that hides that they are provided by Squads.
- Quoting or sharing exported images and videos as they are, and edits that do not impair the logo display, such as adding text or drawings, are not prohibited.
5. Samples and real clubs and players
- The Service is an unofficial tool for recreating and sharing football formations. As samples, we may include boards that use the names and shirt numbers of real clubs, national teams and players, such as line-ups from past matches.
- These were created by the operator from publicly available match information. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of the clubs, national teams, associations, leagues, players, managers or other parties shown.
- We do not include club or organization names styled as emblems, crests or logos, player photographs, or sponsor or manufacturer logos. Colors and patterns that resemble a kit are used only to tell the teams apart and are not a reproduction of any official design.
- Names, shirt numbers and formations may differ from the facts depending on the date and the source. We do not guarantee their accuracy.
- For data you enter yourself, please make sure it does not infringe the rights of others, as set out in "3. Prohibited conduct".
6. For rights holders: requests to remove content
If you are a rights holder (or their representative) and believe that content shown in the Service, such as a sample, infringes your rights or you do not want it shown, please contact us at the address under "Contact" below. Including the following helps us respond quickly:
- Your name (or organization) and your relationship to the rights holder
- The URL of the page or board concerned (or the name of the sample)
- The specific content and why you want it removed or changed
After reviewing your request, we will promptly remove or correct the content where we consider it necessary.
7. Disclaimer
- The Service is provided as is. We do not guarantee the accuracy, continuity or fitness for a particular purpose of its operation.
- The Service's data is stored in your browser (localStorage). The operator is not responsible if it is lost because browser data is cleared, devices are changed, or for other reasons. Keep important data separately as share URLs or images.
- The operator is not responsible for broken layouts on embedding sites, suspension, changes or termination of the Service, or any other damage arising from use of the Service.
- As set out in "4. Exported images, videos, share URLs and embeds", the operator is not responsible for damage or disputes arising because content you created or shared (including images, videos, share URLs and embeds) infringes the rights of third parties.
8. Changes to and termination of the Service
The operator may change, suspend or terminate the Service without prior notice.
9. Changes to the Terms
The operator may change these Terms as necessary. The revised Terms take effect when posted on this page.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
